Which devices support eSIM? The compatibility list 2026

Does my device support an eSIM?
Most smartphones from 2019 onwards support eSIM. Important: the device must also be carrier-unlocked.
iPhone
eSIM-capable from iPhone XS / XR onwards. US models from iPhone 14 no longer have a physical SIM slot at all.
Samsung Galaxy
Supported from Galaxy S20 onwards, plus many Z Fold/Z Flip and Note models.
Google Pixel
eSIM-capable from Pixel 3 (reliably from Pixel 4 in Europe).
How to check quickly
- iPhone: Settings → General → About – if an "EID" number is listed, an eSIM is present.
- Android: Settings → Connections → SIM manager – is there an "Add eSIM" option?
- Or dial `*#06#` – if an EID is shown, your device is eSIM-capable.
You can find a detailed list on our compatibility page. All good? Then find the right data plan for your destination in the plan finder.
More compatible devices
Beyond iPhone, Galaxy and Pixel, many current Motorola, Xiaomi, Oppo, Huawei and Honor models support eSIM. Cellular iPads, selected Android tablets and LTE smartwatches can also use digital profiles. Support may differ by exact model number, sales region and carrier.
Check compatibility yourself
- Dial *#06# and look for an EID.
- Open SIM or mobile settings and look for "Add eSIM".
- Verify the exact model number on the manufacturer website.
- Ask the current carrier whether a lock is active.
An IMEI alone does not prove eSIM support; the EID is the important identifier.
Important exceptions
Some phone variants sold in mainland China use two physical SIM slots instead of eSIM. Company device management can block profile installation. Smartwatches often need a special operator plan and cannot automatically use a normal travel eSIM.
Before buying
Update the operating system, check profile capacity and confirm the phone is unlocked. Then select a package in the plan finder. Apple users can follow the detailed iPhone guide.
Dual eSIM differs by device
A phone may store several profiles without being able to keep several eSIMs active at once. Some models support one physical SIM plus eSIM; others permit two active eSIMs. For travel, the useful feature is keeping the home line active for texts while selecting the travel line separately for data.
Used and imported phones
For a used device, check more than the model name: confirm sales region, EID and carrier lock. Imported variants can have different SIM hardware. A carrier contract may have ended while a technical lock still needs removal.
Can a laptop use eSIM? Some Windows devices with a cellular modem support it; ordinary Wi-Fi laptops do not.
Does every smartwatch accept a travel eSIM? Usually not. Watches commonly rely on a linked multi-SIM plan from the home carrier.
