Is your device eSIM-ready?
Dial *#06# in the Phone app. An EID alongside the IMEI indicates eSIM hardware. To use a travel eSIM, your phone must also be unlocked and support setup. Check the exact model variant and the “Add eSIM” option in Settings.

Model variants differ by sales region. The device must be carrier-unlocked.
iPhone
Settings → Cellular → “Add eSIM”. Also check Carrier Lock under General → About.
Android
Settings → Connections/Network → SIM manager → “Add eSIM”.

What is an EID?
The EID identifies the embedded eSIM chip. It is different from the IMEI identifying the mobile device and is not a data plan. Share device identifiers only when your carrier or support team needs them for a specific request.
Does an EID guarantee that every eSIM will work?
An EID indicates eSIM hardware, but your model variant, software and carrier must also support setup. A carrier lock may prevent using another provider. Check for an “Add eSIM” option as well.
What if *#06# does not display an EID?
The dial-code screen alone is not conclusive. Check the device information and SIM settings too. If neither an EID nor an eSIM setup option appears, ask the manufacturer to confirm your exact model and sales region before buying.
How do I check an iPhone?
Open Settings → General → About and check EID and Carrier Lock. “No SIM restrictions” means the iPhone is unlocked. Also look for Add eSIM under Cellular; support can differ by sales region.
