You receive the QR code after payment is confirmed. Install over Wi-Fi at the time recommended in the plan details.
Prepare for Thailand
Mobile data helps with transfers, translation, ride-hailing, ferries and hotel communication. Keep bookings and the first accommodation address offline. A data-only eSIM normally has no Thai phone number, while messaging keeps the existing number.
Islands and northern coverage
Bangkok, Chiang Mai and major visitor areas are well served. Smaller islands, boat trips and mountain areas can have variable signal. The named local network matters more than a generic 5G promise.
Which allowance?
For two weeks of maps, messaging and social media, 10–20 GB is a useful guide. Backpackers using video, hotspot or staying longer should compare large packages with unlimited fair-use terms.
Installation
Install before departure but check when validity begins. On arrival, enable the line, the required roaming setting and toggle airplane mode if needed.

Plan checklist for Thailand
Do not compare price alone. The package should cover the whole trip and match the way you use data:
- Validity begins at the right time
- Allowance includes roughly 20 percent headroom
- 4G/5G and available partner networks are described clearly
- Hotspot is permitted when sharing with a laptop or companion
- A top-up or replacement package is available if use increases
When island hopping, keep ferry tickets, accommodation addresses and maps offline because reception can vary on crossings and in remote bays.
Small or large allowance?
For maps, messaging and occasional searches, 5–10 GB often covers one week. Regular video, cloud photos, video calls or tethering point towards 20 GB or an unlimited plan. Always read “unlimited” together with daily high-speed limits and fair use. The travel data guide helps calculate an allowance.
Thailand eSIM FAQ
Does the travel eSIM include a phone number? Many offers are data-only. Keep the familiar number active on the home SIM while messaging apps use the eSIM connection.
Check the activation policy in the plan details before buying. Depending on the plan, validity starts at purchase, on installation or on the first connection to a supported network. Install the profile over reliable Wi-Fi at the time recommended for your plan.
What if it shows no service? Check the selected data line, roaming instructions, automatic network selection and APN. Do not delete the profile too quickly because QR codes are often single-use.
