A travel eSIM is a digital data plan installed on a compatible phone with a QR code. Your physical SIM can remain in the device, keeping your usual number available while the eSIM provides mobile data at the destination.

Many recent iPhone, Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy models support eSIM. The phone must also be carrier-unlocked. Before buying, look for an “Add eSIM” option in the mobile settings or use our compatibility checker.

Install the profile before departure over a reliable Wi-Fi connection. The validity start depends on the plan: often it begins on the first connection to a supported network, but some offers begin on installation. Check the exact rule in the plan details.

First check Wi-Fi, device compatibility and carrier lock. Many QR codes are single-use, so verify whether the profile already appears in the SIM settings and do not delete it too quickly. If needed, enter the supplied SM-DP+ address and activation code manually.

For maps, messaging and occasional searches, 3–5 GB often covers one week. Social media, video, video calls or hotspot use need more. Choose a validity period covering the entire trip and allow roughly 20 percent headroom.

The travel eSIM has no additional roaming fees within the included countries and data allowance. However, disable data roaming on your home SIM and explicitly select the eSIM as the mobile-data line so the phone does not silently use your home plan.
